Hypnosis
Mary Condell Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy- Brighton & Hove, Sussex
Hypnosis is a little like being in a waking dream. It is a very pleasant state, allowing you to be more open to the changes that you want to make. During hypnotherapy you will experience a deep and comfortable relaxation while your mind can be alert and aware of the words, sensations and experiences. This allows you to work with the guidance of the therapist. Any time you enter trance, a part of you is aware of the wider reality around you but chooses to allow the focus of your attention to narrow. You will also be aware that it would be easy for you to take control as your ‘will’ is always active.
Therapist and client work together to achieve the client’s desired outcome. It is a simple, safe, effective treatment for emotional and psychological problems.
Negative Trance
People can become ‘entranced’ by anger, anxiety, phobias or addictions and as these mental states take the attention it is sometimes hard to break away from what makes us angry, sad or anxious. Sometimes we get caught up on the worry about future events, or in depression it might be difficult to break free from thoughts about the past or from upsetting ideas. These less helpful trance states can sometimes lead to psychological problems.
Tried and tested psychotherapy techniques help you to identify any harmful patterns and thought processes that may be contributing to your situation and the use of hypnotherapy can help you to break free.
