The Rewind Technique

The Rewind Technique has a very good track record for being a wonderfully simple treatment for high anxiety conditions such as Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and high anxiety.*

This relatively recent breakthrough in psychotherapy treatment is a fast, safe and painless method of helping people to overcome high anxiety conditions.*    The Rewind is a version of an NLP strategy that is recommended by The European Therapy Studies Institute (ETSI) as it has been refined to emphasise the elements that are now known to be essential in making it a highly effective treatment.*

The wonderful thing about The Rewind Technique is that you don’t have to explain every detail of the trauma or phobia in order for the therapist to work with you which means you don’t have to re-experience the events that have led to the problem.

How Does Trauma, Phobia or High Anxiety Develop as a Problem?

When a person encounters an event or situation that is perceived as threatening, the mind’s attention becomes locked onto the source of the threat to the exclusion of everything else.  This is when your survival brain activates the fight and flight response of high anxiety or even terror and the emotions become highly aroused.  In this aroused state the body  instantly gears itself for survival action.  In the normal course of events this physical and emotional energy will be used up as the situation passes and the body will restore itself to normal.  The brain is then able to process what has happened by separating the emotional response from the physical experience, filing both away in separate parts of the brain, enabling the person to make calm, rational sense of the event.

Occasionally, this separation doesn’t happen and the entire event gets trapped in the emotional centres of the brain, resulting in phobia or trauma.

In the hands of a correctly trained practitioner, the Rewind Technique works very quickly and simply to ‘unhook’ the emotional experience from the actual event, enabling the brain to recode the information, freeing the sufferer from the debilitation of high anxiety.*

I trained in this technique with Uncommon Knowledge who now run the Rewind training as an online course.
